We are a group of engineers who develop systems that support and secure Akamai's global network. Our systems provide data security, server integrity, network access, and secure communications infrastructure. Partner with the best

In your role as a Software Engineer in the Platform Security Engineering team you'll be taking care of a portfolio of components related to network access, communication and security. You will partner with architecture, quality engineering, service performance and support teams throughout the software lifecycle to provide best possible services for our internal consumers.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining existing software and keeping it compliant as well as designing, implementing and testing new features
  • Improving safety and stability of services; spotting and eliminating problems and risks; writing maintainable and secure code
  • Collaborating with consumers to understand and address their needs; partnering with other teams for effectiveness and efficiency
  • Progressing into Subject Matter Expert for a part of the teams component portfolio.
  • Conducting code and design reviews with peers; documenting your work for the benefit of users and other team members; influencing teams efforts on process improvement

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have experience in one or more general purpose languages. C++, Java, Python or Rust
  • Have experience with the full software development life cycle, including code reviews, release and support
  • Have experience in working with Linux/Unix-like operating systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think thoroughly with attention to detail as required in developing security-related applications
  • Demonstrate openness and flexibility to learn new technologies; approach changes with agility and growth mindset
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Internet protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, TLS/SSL. Have familiarity with Public Key Infrastructure concepts (public/private keys, signing, trust)
  • Have knowledge of SQL/noSQL databases is a plus
